The Rams continued their pre-season games with a trip to ambitious West Lancs League side Fulwood Amateurs, but came away on the back of a 3-1 defeat.

The home side, with eyes on joining the NWCFL next season, took an early lead when a sloppy back-pass was pounced upon, and duly netted after just 15 minutes.

The game flowed end-to-end, before the visitors levelled on 35 minutes when some trickery from Oumar Camara created space for him to score from close range.

The usual pre-season tinkering saw a number of the squad compete for the second half, and once again there was very little between the two sides.

The home team’s keeper made two tremendous saves to keep the scores level, but the Rams were not helped by some poor, wayward finishing.

On 67 minutes, a neatly worked goal gave the home side the lead again, and this time they held on to it before a third goal on 87minutes, ended any hopes that the Rams could level the score.

Another decent runout with around twenty players given game time.

All eyes now turn to the first of three home games before the season begins on 27th July.

First up, on Tuesday, is a visit from near-neighbours Radcliffe, with their NPL Championship side on view.

A welcome return for the two Rams legends, Bernard and Jonno, who have overseen the Boro’s amazing rise.
