Overview:
It was a tough result to take last time out for Ramsbottom as they fell to defeat away at Trafford. The Rams put in a very positive performance in that game but failed to find the back of the net and they will have certainly felt hard done by.

Rammy have been relegated for a few weeks now but since then the pressure seems to have been lifted off their collective shoulders and performances have certainly been much improved. With only two league games left of this campaign the Rams are eager to finish the season on a high and give the fans something to cheer about.

This weekend’s opponents are going to be an extremely tough test with them sitting 15 places higher in the table in fifth with a staggering 35 more points. We sit in 19th place in the form table taking four points from our previous six games. The hosts sit in seventh place in the form table taking 10 points in their previous six games, winning three, losing two and drawing one.

Runcorn will be desperate to win this one to try and secure a play off place in their bid for promotion. However, Witton Albion and Mossley will be hoping that Rammy can do them a massive favor by beating their opponents.

History:
Check out our “Have We Met?” feature linked below where you can read about the history between the Rams and their two opponents.

HAVE WE MET… RUNCORN LINNETS?

However since the “Have We Met” was published on the website the two sides have faced off on three separate occasions and it doesn’t make great reading for Rammsbottom.

The first meeting came on the 16th October 2021 away at Runcorn. It was goals from Ryan Brooke, Dapo Olarewaju and two late on from Iwan Murray that did the damage to the visitors as Runcorn secured the points in the 4-0 victory. The meeting at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium on the 22nd January wasn’t much better for the Rams as they lost this one 3-1 but, on this occasion though it was that the team kept trying their hardest until sunk by two goals in the last four minutes. The most recent meeting came back in November when the Rams fell to defeat 3-1 at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium. The goal scorer that day for the Rams was Tony Donaldson.

Managers thoughts:
Runcorn has always and still is an extremely tough place to go to and Saturday will not be any different. Our young lads will have to match their work rate and we need to make sure that we cut-out any silly mistakes, if we are to have a chance of taking anything from this game.

I want the lads to keep working as hard and I just want to keep seeing their fight and determination. As long as they work hard then I’ll be happy with that.
