CODGE LEAVES THE RAMS

by | Feb 8, 2024

Ramsbottom United defender and product of the youth system, Owen Collinge, has decided to make a move and has joined fellow NWCFL outfit Lower Breck.

‘Codge’, who has played 79 games for the club (67 starts and 12 substitute apperances) across the last three seasons has been a firm fan favourite, having progressed through the Rammy Juniors and the Under 18s into the First XI.

He was one of just three players to remain at the club following the relegation at the end of last season and has played 25 games this campaign, having recovered from injury which ruled him out for two months.

His final start of the season came in the 3-2 win over the Liverpool-based outfit that he has moved to, reuniting with former Rammy boss Lee Donafee and former junior coach Warren Hemingway.

Assistant manager Scott Campbell said of the departure of the likable youngster, “Everyone is absolutely gutted to see Codge leave”.

“He was highly thought of within the group from players and management and it was clear from day one when Wilksey and myself came to the club he was one of only a few we wanted to keep.

“He always gave 100% on and off the pitch for Ramsbottom United. But after a long discussion, he felt the time was right to move on and take on a fresh challenge.

“Codge has been told the door at Ramsbottom United is always open for him and is welcome back any time as a player or supporter.

“We wish him all the best in the future.”

Good luck Codge, everyone at Ramsbottom United wishes you well.
