Ramsbottom United would like to extend a warm welcome back to defender Luke Barlow and goalkeeper Daniel Taberner who both signed back up with the club today.

A favourite of the Rams faithful, local lad Luke Barlow, 24, rejoins us from NPL West side Mossley.

Luke was a mainstay of the Rammy backline with 45 appearances over two seasons before signing for the Lilywhites in June 2023 via a short spell back at Stalybridge Celtic.

“Since we lost Scott Sephton the priority has been to bring in a centre half and by bringing Luke in, we’ve achieved that”, beamed Manager Steve Wilkes.

“I’m absolutely over the moon to get him. I know how tough of a decision it was to leave his previous club but he’s a Rammy lad and I’m sure the fans will welcome him back with open arms.”

After putting pen to paper, Luke expressed his joy about coming back to the HWRS and the challenges ahead. “I’m delighted to be back! It’s been a long few days and a decision I haven’t taken lightly”, said Luke.

“Ultimately though I felt it was too good of an opportunity to turn down. There’s some big games coming up and I’m looking forward to getting started, seeing some old faces and hopefully being a part of something special with my hometown club!”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Danny Taberner, who previously had a spell with us back in 2017 before joining up with Steve Wilkes at Northwich Victoria the following season, has also rejoined the Rammy ranks.

“I’m just really glad to be back training, I’ve known Wilksy a long time and love the environment he creates”, said Danny.

“There’s a very good goalkeeper already here in Brad and I’m looking forward to working with him while I try and get my fitness levels back up.”

Manager Wilkes was also looking forward to linking back up with the 31 year old Bolton born stopper.

“Danny’s lost his way in football a little so if I can help him find his way back, I’m only to happy to help.

“He’s one of the best keepers I’ve ever worked with and a top lad as well. He’ll also help Brad week in week out in training.”

Welcome back to Rammy, Danny and Luke!
