Ramsbottom have completed the signings of five players to the Club; Leon Creech, Oscar Radcliffe, Ryan Jennings, Craig Davies and Will Hall.
The signing of 23 year old Leon Creech who played his football at Darwen last season is a huge capture for manager Lee Donafee. The forward brings plenty of ambition and youthfulness to the Rams. Darwen’s top scorer last season said he is “ very happy to be here”. He also told us that Lee had spoken to him on a number of occasions and stated that “ he believes he can make me an even better player than I already am”. The forward has also spent time at Lancaster, Colne and Preston.
20 year old defender Oscar Radcliffe has also joined Rammy. Oscar joins the club from AFC Blackpool. Radcliffe is a local lad and he told us he is “ buzzing and can’t wait to get started”. This is another player the manager has been looking at for a while but Oscar showed loyalty to Blackpool last term and wanted to wait till the season had ended to join the club. Oscar is a defender who likes to get forward whenever possible helping out the attack which is imperative to the way Ramsbottom want to play moving forward.
26 year old Ryan Jennings is a player who joins with a wealth of experience and an excellent resume having played for Wigan Athletic, Cheltenham Town and Grimsby Town, where he won promotion to league 2 with the club. The winger spent last season at Widnes and “ wants to hit the ground running” for the Rams this campaign. Ryan wants the club to “aim for the playoffs” as a minimum. This is exactly to sort of player Lee Donafee wanted to bring in this summer.
33 year old attacker Craig Davies has joined the club from Barnoldswick. Davies is the oldest of the new signings this year and he has an array of previous clubs which include, Morecambe, Stalybridge Celtic, Vauxhall Motors and Warrington plus a few more. Three years ago Craig became the manager of Prescot Cables but decided it wasn’t time to hang his boots up just yet and therefore continued his playing career. It is always important to have a mixture of youth and experience and that’s exactly what the gaffer has done this summer and he’ll certainly be hoping that the veteran forward will be able to help the younger lads that he’s brought in. Davies said he was “ delighted and happy to come in and be part of something special next season”.
Finally this summer sees the return of fan favorite Will Hall. The 20 year old defender spent some time on loan at Rammy last season and we are absolutely delighted to have him back on a permanent basis. Hall who returned to his parent club Altrincham midway through the past season and is “really excited to get the season started”. Hall is a local lad and is hoping to bring a abundance of “ clean sheets” this year to help the club really kick on and finish as high up the table as possible.
Manger Lee Donafee said he is “ delighted that he got all the players in and it’s given the club a massive lift” Donafee is also expecting to bring in a few more players to fill voids that have been left by outgoings this year. The manager has “ identified where we struggled last season and brought defenders as well as attackers”, Donafee isn’t just happy with the new players but also over the moon with the players that the club has been able to retain for the coming campaign. With not long until pre-season gets underway the gaffer “ can’t wait to get going” with our first game on Saturday 9th when we take on Prestwich Heys away from home.
