We once again dip into the Ramsbottom United archives to see what happened on this respective Saturday in our non-league semi-professional history. And, it will be centered on 2011, 2005 and 2000.

ALSAGER TOWN v RAMSBOTTOM UNITED
MATCH POSTPONED
(Report from the very old RUFC website)
Once again the weather intervened in the Rams chase for the Vod-Kat League title. The game at Alsager was called off mid-morning due to a frozen pitch, but the other two teams at the top managed to play.
New Mills won a tight game on Merseyside, against Bootle, 3-2 to stretch their lead at the top.
They are currently 10 points ahead of Ramsbottom having played a game more.
Winsford United, however, lost at home to Squires Gate 1-0, and are now six points ahead of the Rams, but have played four games more.

Ramsbottom United’s game at Atherton LR on Saturday fell victim to the weather, with the Rams now having to reschedule five games.
This Saturday they are due to host Salford City in the league at the Riverside – weather permitting
SATURDAY 22nd JANUARY 2000
RAMSBOTTOM UNITED 4 LEEK CSOB 2
(Report from the Lancashire Telegraph archives)
Two goals in the last 10 minutes finally killed off a spirited Leek side.
The Staffordshire side had taken a surprise lead then looked like they might hang on for an unlikely draw until Ramsbottom made that vital break through.
Leek took the lead on nine minutes when Matt Sheldon scored with a looping header.
Ramsbottom finally made their pressure count when Mike Langhorn fired them level and four minutes later Russell Brierley swept the ball home to make it 2-1.
Ramsbottom started the second half as they had ended the first, putting the Leek goal under siege.
However Leek survived the onslaught and then grabbed an equaliser when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Lee Pugh by Rams debutant keeper John Parrott. Pugh took the kick himself to make it 2-2.
The Rams regained the lead with 10 minutes to go when substitute Chris Brookes was brought down in the box and Brierley gave Holdcroft no chance from the spot.
Leek had shown their fighting spirit throughout but five minutes from time Goodall’s superb lob over the keeper killed off their challenge which at times had looked to deny Ramsbottom the points.
