NEW SIGNINGS WELCOME
We are delighted to announce the signings of experienced right-back turned centre-back Caldon Henson, who joins the club from Nelson, midfielder Aaron Hart, who makes the switch from Wisbech Town in Cambridgeshire, midfielder Kayle Power joining from Prestwich Heys and Matty Birchall who joined last week from 1874 Northwich.
36-year-old Henson, who has plied his non-league trade for the best part of 17 years with a number of clubs including Clitheroe, Mossley and Ossett Town, makes the move to help shore up the Rammy defence.
“I came to watch the team earlier in the season and it was clear that they have plenty of quality so I am excited to see if we can pick up a run of form as the games come thick and fast at the back end of the season.
“I am really looking forward to being on board, hoping to bring some experience to the team.
“Steve and Scott have got a good reputation and having spoken to them amoungst others, Ramsbottom felt the right fit for me.”
Hart, a 24-year-old midfielder who has recently moved to the area from East Anglia having played for Peterborough United Under 21s and in the Northern Premier League with Yaxley, Spalding United and Cambridge City, finally ending up at Wisbech Town is a versatile player who has played left and right back but preference being centre midfield.
“First off, I am delighted to join Ramsbottom. With being new to the area, everyone I spoke to had nothing but good things to say about the club and I’m looking forward to being able to show what I can bring to the team.”
Manager Steve Wilkes was very pleased to have got this signings across the line ahead of this week’s big two fixtures with title chasers Wythenshawe Town and Bury.
“It’s been a very interesting few days for myself and Ramsbottom United but we have welcomed three new lads into the club in Caldon, Aaron and Kayle Power who makes the switch from Prestwich Heys – he is another centre midfield player. They all join our other recent signing, forward Matty Birchall who made his debut against Skelmersdale and was unfortunate not to get on the score sheet.
“I am really looking forward to seeing the new lads in action as we try and get out of our poor run of form starting this weekend with the game against Wythenshawe.”
